Obama Confidential: Strange, Odd, and Bizarre Letters to the 44th President

In this outrageous collection of fake letters to the 44th President of the United States, Barack Obama, we’re offered a startling inside look at what’s on the minds of Americans today. From celebrities as diverse as Warren Buffett, Bill Clinton, and Steven Spielberg, to anonymous everyday citizens like the minimum-wage waitress in Oklahoma and a dry cleaner named Al Kayda in Wisconsin, Obama hears it, and gets it, from everyone. And when you’re the president, absolutely no subject is off-limits.

An ex-student in Illinois is drowning in an ocean of debt; a harried housewife in Wyoming has dubious ideas about how to save hard-earned pennies; a gun owner in Tennessee vigorously defends his right to bear arms. Even a Harvard classmate re-appears with a not-so-subtle demand for money. Obama, who’s obviously a very busy man, sometimes answers with a brief innocuous letter of his own.

Echoing another classic of US history, Alexis de Tocqueville’s Democracy In AmericaObama Confidential offers a vivid, consistently amusing snapshot of America in the second decade of the 21st century, with hilarious results.

Weird, amusing, bizarre....these are among the many adjectives that can be used to describe the letters sent to President Obama during his time in office. This book, Obama Confidential, captures some of the more unusual letters Obama has received from his fans, critics, enemies, and more, in satire form, for some often laugh out loud fun. [...] Read it, and just imagine the silliness, weirdness, oddness, and outrageousness that Obama and his staff deal with each day as they sort through the thousands of letters addressed to Pennsylvania Ave.

I have this audiobook in my car and listen to it all the time. I love it and it keeps me laughing. The different letters that are "written" to the president are hilarious.

This is unlike anything I've ever read, and that is what makes it so special. It lightens the heart, and gives some much needed relief from the daily onslaught of pundits and political figures that are equally as strange, odd and bizarre. Thanks to the author for finding something to smile about in our "democrazy". I slept well knowing that in the mind of at least one person, the state of our union is hilarious. My tag line would be: "Better than Ambien, and much more addictive".
